Frequently Asked Questions

  • Biblical counseling begins with this steady, grounding truth: we are always living before the face of God. Nothing in our lives happens outside His presence. When we suffer, we bring our cries to Him. When we fall into sin, we turn back and repent before Him. And as He heals and reshapes us, little by little, our lives start to reflect the beauty and glory of Christ.

At its core, biblical counseling rests on the belief that God is not silent about our real, everyday struggles. He speaks into them, and He stays near in the middle of them. The counselor, then, is not the source of change, but more like a living reminder of that nearness. A person who, in a very human way, carries and expresses Christ’s presence, His compassion, and His love directly into the places where they are most needed.

“[Biblical Counseling is] the conversational and relational aspect of Christian ministry in an intensely personal, focused, biblical way. The Christian worldview we sing in a good, rich hymn is the same worldview that we counsel from.” - David Powlison

“Scripture gives me all things that pertain to life and godliness in Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:3). It confronts me and comforts me, both at the same time. Scripture itself directs me to people, to careful observations, and even to the study of creation to further grow in faith working through love (Gal 5:6).” - Ed Welch

  • I believe God teaches us to see life as He sees it, not in pieces, but in relationship to Him. That shapes everything I do. I hold to the full trustworthiness and authority of Scripture, and I believe it speaks meaningfully into every part of our lives.

I also understand that God’s work in our lives unfolds over time. Scripture tells one unified story, a redemptive story that points us to Jesus from beginning to end. That larger story matters in counseling. It helps make sense of your story too. Together, we look at how your experiences, struggles, and growth fit within what God is doing in the world and in you.

Because God is not just saving individuals but forming a people, I value the role of the church. When it is helpful, I aim to work in a way that supports and connects with healthy church community, not apart from it.

And since there is one Body and one Spirit, I am glad to walk with believers from a wide range of denominational backgrounds, keeping our shared foundation in Christ at the center.

  • Come as you are but come willing.

You do not need perfect words, just honesty. Share what feels true, ask questions when they arise, and let me know if something does not resonate. Your openness makes space for deeper exploration and growth.

  • Yes.

I am explicitly Christian, and my biblical worldview shapes my entire practice. While you do not need to share my beliefs to begin counseling, it is important to understand that this worldview naturally guides how I approach our work together.

We will clarify your goals together and ensure that this space is safe and meaningful for you.

  • Yes. Sessions are primarily held online, with limited in-person options available on an as-needed basis.

This flexibility allows you to engage in counseling from the space where you feel most comfortable while still creating intentional, reflective time together.

  • I generally recommend a 90-minute session at $120. This length allows for a fuller, unhurried conversation and gives space to explore your story and heart more deeply than a standard 50-minute session.

Shorter sessions can also be arranged if that works better for your schedule.

  • If cost is a concern, I encourage you to first check with your church, as some offer support for counseling.

I also have a limited number of reduced-rate spots available. If you are currently serving, or have recently served, in full-time ministry, please let me know.

  • I do not accept insurance.

Some clients have received partial reimbursement through out-of-network benefits or HSA accounts. You may wish to check with your provider to see what is available.

  • It depends.

Some women come for a short season with a specific focus, while others continue longer to work through deeper patterns or life transitions. We will revisit this together as we go. There is no pressure to rush the process.
